Oneto Family

I noticed the mention of the Oneto family. We have a family cabin at Dardanelle Above Strawberry). On the cabin is a plaque with the name Oneto. I know that the cabin was built by my grandfather Paul Evey and his good friend Jonny Oneto. Jonny was an immigrant from Italy. I remember him from when I was a child. He was a Chemistry proffessor at UC Davis.

I remember him bringing wine to the cabin. He lived in Sonora and the house had a large winery in the back and an underground wine cellar. I was told the cellar was originally built in Italy. It was dissassembled, the stones numbered, brought to Sonora and reassembled.

I also remember paintings on the wall from another Oneto who was a famous painter.

I wonder if there is a relationship.

I suspect that my grandmother has a huge stash of photo, letters, etc concerning the Oneto family. There are closets full of this stuff at her house. Maybe someday I can get my hands on them. I'd really like to know some of that history.
