New television show, Calaveras Gold,
comes to Community Television, Channel 7

Beginning the first week of February, a new variety TV series, called “Calaveras Gold, The Best of Calaveras Country!” will be airing on Community Television Channel 7. This show will feature entertaining and informative topics including festivals, museums, community events, vacation destinations, the Arts, favorite restaurants, new businesses, special people, and even special pets. Designed to be of interest to both tourists to our area and local residents, it endeavors to deliver the best in local programming. The show is hosted by its producer, Ken Jones.

In keeping with the show’s byline, “The Best of Calaveras Country!”, viewers are invited to call in and nominate “the best” to be on the show. The producer interprets “calaveras country” to include highlights of adjacent counties that are of interest to tourists to Calaveras county.

Episode One features the Sierra Nevada Logging Jamboree, the Ebbetts Pass Scenic Celebration, the new Bear Valley Soap Box Derby, and a video salute to Barny, “Best Newspaper Fetcher” - an accomplished local Border collie. Upcoming episodes will showcase Sequoia Woods Country Club, Horse and Barrel riding tours, Halloween trick-or-treat adventures, local Fourth of July parades, Thanksgiving community dinners, and “The Bears of Calaveras”. New episodes will be broadcast on a regular basis, soon to become a weekly program.

Businesses and organizations featured on the show have the option of using their video segment to further promote themselves. Special web versions and DVDs of their segment are made available. The producer is currently seeking sponsors to help finance the show. Sponsors receive exposure on the show and the show’s web site. Podcasts of the show will soon be available.
