CALAVERAS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
CALLS FOR GRANT PROPOSALS FROM NONPROFIT GROUPS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS
ANGELS CAMP -- June 20, 2007 -- The only philanthropic organization serving residents from all parts of the county by funding a wide range of projects from education and health to the arts and history, the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) announced today that 2007 grant proposals from nonprofit groups and other community organizations may be submitted beginning June 20. The deadline for submissions is September 1. Grant recipients will be announced beginning September 17.
Thanks to an increase in charitable donations to the Foundation and the success of its recent Pro-Am Golf Tournament at La Contenta, the CCF has raised its grant fund an impressive 20 percent over last year. Since 2001, the CCF has awarded more than 100 grants totaling $164,000; grants have ranged from $200 to $6,500.
“The generosity of individuals and businesses in Calaveras County and elsewhere has made it possible for us to help even more organizations, and even more of our citizens, this year than last,” said Susan Crosson, CCF president. “Whether it is a project a group wants to start or a desire for funds to keep something going; whether it’s an emergency need, funds for next year or even a long-term project three years down the road, we are here to help those worthy efforts.”
In 2006, the CCF awarded grants to new or continuing projects from such groups as The Volunteer Center, Calaveras Arts Council, Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth, Valley Springs Youth Center, Copperopolis Parks & Recreation, Murphys Pre-School and Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, along with several others.
Information on CCF grants, including Grant Proposal forms, may be obtained by e-mailing investinCCF@caltel.com or calling the CCF at 736-1845.
